Three Stooges Three Dimensional Stickers

Not sure what lame brain calls puffy stickers "Three Dimensional" (ahem! Norman Maurer, ahem!) but it's definitely depicting The Three Stooges here-- I think! Hilariously off-model renditions of everyone's favorite ultra violent silver screen knuckleheads, caricatured in a variety of wacky ways, one that definitely borrows from the 1965 Cambria Studios animated series version, and the others, well, I'm not exactly sure about, though the stickers are dated 1980 which was just 2 years after The Robonic Stooges, so who knows. And what's the story on that fish, anybody know? All I can say is that every time I look at the astoundingly barrel bottom Larry and Curly on the yellow header card below-- I wanna poke my own eyes out! Nyuk nyuk nyuk!

Persimmons

A few years back I picked up a crumbling stack of hilarious old issues of Ballyhoo Magazine from the 30's. Ballyhoo was pretty much the National Lampoon of its day, full of hilarious gags, stories, tons of great cartoon art, and fake ads, like this one for Persimmons Beds, Springs, & Mattresses. Unfortunately, this particular ad is in a million brittle pieces, pulled loose from its original issue (and found floating in a separate one) and it's possibly incomplete. But I've managed to salvage a few of the cutely illustrated panels, as well as a bit of the text that reads as follows:

"Sleeping LIKE THIS is the bunk-- lantern slides prove in convincing studies by bed specialists at Hot Springs. Sleeping "like a horse" has always been considered the ideal form of rest. Until now. Now it is known that nobody sleeps like a horse except horses and pony chorus girls. And besides, our investigators have proved that people who sleep like horses are troubled with nightmares which necessitates sleeping with a Colt under your pillow." Very funny stuff (Nov. Burlesque Frolics (1959)

From the same local 1950's STL newspaper as the ads in our last post, here's an exciting little notice (blown up 400x) announcing an adults only Burlesque Frolics show in St. Charles MO. With the keen help from my co-hort in cutie pie film loops (click HERE to see Charmette in jaw dropping, bump 'n grind action) she was also able to track down pix of Joy Davis and Brandy Jones, as listed in the ad. Unfortunately, Rusty Amber remains MIA. I'm also assuming that "Open at 10:30" means AM... I can't imagine all that sensational stripperama going down in only 30 minutes every night!

February 11th, 1959

I found some brass candlesticks in my attic that were carefully wrapped in an old STL newspaper dated February 11th, 1959. Thankfully it wasn't the sports section-- it was all sadly forgotten funnies and even a few movie / TV ads! So here ya go, some of the silly comic highlights, (a particularly nice bite of Jack Kirby and Wally Wood's Sky Masters too) and a couple of local ads. Man, I'd love to see The Spider, aka Earth vs. the Spider, with Brain Eaters at the drive-in! (Scanned at 300%)

Breezy Bedtime Bikini Brief For Men

Some sexy mail-order items from a late 60's STL newspaper catalog mini suppliment inserted into a Post Dispatch Parade Magazine. Yes, whether it's flimsy, frisky, see-thru night wear intended to actually get your night started, or fun little novelty items like strip tease pens or pin-up playing cards, Hanover House seemed to always deliver the goods! I've posted Hanover House stuff before (click HERE for a much wider / varied selection of goods), but this post is focused on the things you would more typically find in the back of vintage fashion, or naughty adult men's magazines. Perk up your nighttime retiring-- NOW! (FYI: Scanned at 400x!)
