Groupie-Doo in "Paging Mik Jugger"

A very funny, and very sexy, 6 page Archies styled Rolling Stones parody (plus faux cover) by Stan Goldberg himself for the March 1975 debut issue of Apple Pie Magazine Vol. 1 #1. You will seriously never look at Betty and Veronica the same again after this one, guaranteed! And check out my other blog HERE for another, though very different, crazy ass (literally) story from this insanely inspired 70's National Lampoon mag wannabe. I'll have a couple more stories from this issue in our next post too!

Cook Drugs Contests '64

More super cute key art from this old Cook Drugs 1964 calendar (see also the "Doings of the Deans" post strips from earlier this month), where apparently this pharmacy was not only the hot place to buy all of your cough 'n sniffle needs, but it was also the place that you could enter contests to win fabulous stuff like TVs, knives, and Speed Queen appliances-- as well as exotic trips all over the world! I don't think Walgreens or CVS does shit like this and seriously come on, it's 2017! I'll have more fun art examples from this calendar next month too-- oh and before I forget, this stuff is tiny too, so I blew it up 300% for ya'll! Now who wants a slice of that ham! :)

Sticker Cat

Recently picked up a sheet of fun vintage Japanese stickers featuring a ribbon wearing, rosy cheeked girl with helmety green hair (anyone know who she is?) But even better than the stickers, are the funny little cat images on the back of the packaging showing you the best places in your own home to stick your sticky little stickers! The fridge and windows are of course always prime real estate-- sticking them on cars might get your fuzzy tail in trouble though!

Paula Presents Tutti Frutti

Another recent fab antique mall find, Paula Presents Tutti Frutti: an assorted stationary of succulent sentiments in 12 delicious 1968 flavors! Lovely little fruit friends with big eyes and even bigger hearts-- plus, the cover has some nice touches of gold glitter overlay. This super tasty, sugary sweet pad originally contained 24 sheets, but mine unfortunately only has half that many-- although I'm just glad it still contained at least one example of each funny fruit face!

Doings of the Deans

I've been a bit under the weather lately (and almost underwater if you're keeping up with the current state of things here in soggy 'ol STL Missouri!), and a recent trip to the local pharmacy for some fix-me-up reminded me of something else pharm related that I have that might also make for a good cheer-me-up as well! Eleven super cute, family friendly comic strips titled "Doings of the Deans", as found on an old pharmacy calendar from 1963. There's one for every month-- except January-- and unfortunately, there's no artist listed either but it's wonderfully fun stuff, and certainly reminds me of the great strips I used to read in the funny papers as a kid, like Bud Blake's Tiger, and even George Lichty's Grin and Bear It. Yep, sometimes cute and family-friendly is just what the doctor ordered! (CLICK TO ENLARGE)
