Karswell's Haunted Cemetery

Some of you know me as "Karswell" of The Horrors of it All blog (a site dedicated to pre-code horror comics of the 1950's.) But if you're my neighbor, then you probably know me as the creepy dude on the block who puts his halloween shit up too early, and then hardly bothers to take it down months after the fact. And to those I say "Tough titty... cuz everyday is Halloween at my house, damnit..."

"Hurry back..."

Man I love the quality of modern Halloween decorations. When we were kids, it seems like Halloween stuff was at its all-time low. Though I certainly find stuff from the seventies nostalgic, sure, it was still all paper and cellophane--cheap, crappy nothing compared to the cool plastic horror stuff you see here or the really wonderful orange and black tin decorations of the twenties. Even depression-era cardboard decorations were way cooler than the brad-articulated paper cut-outs I remember from my youth. Basically, hobos could decorate their train cars during the dust bowl better than I could decorate my house when I was seven.

Anyway, I like what you've done with the place.

I try to take my stuff down before xmas, it's usually safest to do so before winter hits cuz that hill where everything is displayed is basically just a pile of rocks covered in ivy, and dangerous to walk on ANY time of the year, let alone covered with ice and snow.

I actually like alot of the illustrative paper window and door Halloween decorations of the 70's, but I do know what you mean Mr C... things started to really go downhill around then, and only recently become worthwhile again.

I love your lantern holding skele and the hand creeping out from the boards of your flower bed. I built a cemetary in my own yard this year too. I made a pair of pretty creepy zombie hands! (you can see the pics at my blog) I heart Halloween too!

Ooo! I like your vine-yard! ;)
Very nice display though, I haven't had time to build one yet. Last year I used a bunch of dead tree branches and built a mini spook forest.

@ Amber: I think your blog doesn't like me, I totally commented on your kick ass homemade zombie hands but the comment never showed up! That's actually happened a couple times to me with your blog :(

@ Colleen: there's always next year!
