Crazy Eights Card Game (Whitman, 1951)

Fun, stylized characters and beautiful color combinations highlight this Crazy Eights card game from Whitman (1951.) I particularly love the #6 card with the banjo pickin' hillbilly and his cute lil dancing cat!

Hurray! One of my favorites, although mine was the mod, updated 1970's deck. When my brother got old enough, we loved to play Crazy 8's, Go Fish, and Old Maid.

I didn't think I was one to forget favorite things, but I somehow forgot all about Crazy Eights. Like Illsa, I had the reissue.

I'd love to see some of these other card set variations... anyone posting them on their blogs let me know.

When I first saw the 19 cents price on the box, I thought "Wow" -- but then I remembered that minimum wage was about to go to around $2.00/hr at that time, and $5 worth of groceries could feed a small army.
At least people could find cheaper apartments that were bigger than most apartments (cheap or not) are now.
(And I thought all of this because of a box of kiddie cards.)
